The first time I felt strongly about photography was when I held a Canon 90D during my time in journalism school 13 years ago - my pictures were able to narrate stories that my words couldn’t. Words box you into tidy explanations but no story worth telling is ever neat. The most memorable stories are ever-moving, messy and...unruly.
As an ex-journalist who does photography, I am motivated to capture beauty in the imperfections, the story between the lines, the authenticity of a moment in all its complicated glory.
Having worked on assorted assignments over the last 11 years, I find that this kind of philosophy is best suited to photographing: pets, landscapes and candids at events where people come together such as weddings or protests. They are all unpredictable, dynamic and alive with possibility! The excitement of capturing these kind of stories is what keeps me going as a photographer.
